"Foooooorrrrrrd Windstaaaaaaarrrrr"

2008-03-21 - 2:22 a.m.

I have created the most awesome mix EVER, chickens. So awesome is this mix, I shall call it "Ultimix," for what else could I call something that has Mos Def, Starland Vocal Band, Dean Martin, Lou Reed, Public Enemy, The Grateful Dead, Yaz, Morphine, King Missile, The Kooks, Journey, Johnny Cash, Infectious Grooves, Hall & Oates, The Gap Band, Dave Brubeck, The Doobie Brothers, Elliott Smith, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Etta James, Duran Duran, De La Soul, Davie Bowie, Dan Hill, Cooly Horn, The Connells, 10cc, Yes, Wu Tang, Willie Nelson, Will Smith, The Who, Wesley Willis, Violent Femmes, Twisted Sister, A Tribe Called Quest, Toto, Andrew Bird, Thom Yorke, Styx, Manfred Mann, Slint, Wolf Parade, James Brown, The Von Bondies, ELO, Tony Bennett, Gary Numan, Tom Leher, Pete Yorn, Neutral Milk Hotel, Prince, The Ramones, The Gourds, Blue Oyster Cult, Kanye West, Ice T, Snoop, Bread, Rick Springfield, Pat Benetar, Berlin, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Spandau Ballet, Babyshambles, Bauhaus, The Beta Band, Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, Romeo Void, Sigur Ros, Silver Jews, Mirah, Massive Attack, Magnetic Fields, Air Supply, The Aquabats, and probably many more bands. As soon as I think I'm done, I remember a half dozen other songs that I want to add! So many awesome songs, so many awesome bands! So far, the mix is over 15 hours long. It pretty much rules, I have to tell you. It rocks so hard, just thinking about it and typing the names of the bands makes my hands tremble with joy. 15 hours of awesome. MmmHMM.

Which is nice, because I need a soundtrack to accompany this insomnia bullshit. Bleh.

Although, to tell the truth, the insomnia isn't such a thing today. I'm taking a much-deserved Friday off, so I can sleep all damn day if I want. And you know, I just might do that very thing. This is the first day I've taken off since MLK day, people. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG AGO THAT WAS?! I do. Every tired bone in my body knows exactly how long ago that was. Le sigh.

Actually, to tell the truth, I did have a couple of days off when Mother Nature dumped a metric shit-ton (technical term) of snow on my head a couple of weeks ago. I tried to go in to the office, but when it took me 15 minutes to drive 2 blocks, I thought better of it, and I worked from home instead. So I guess they weren't really days off, but at least I got to wear my pj pants all day, something on which they frown at the office place. So that's something, at any rate.

But tomorrow is a day with no work of any kind whatsofreakinever. In fact, all goddamn WEEKEND is to be work-free, including Monday, which I also took off. FOUR DAYS OFF WITH NOT A TINY BIT OF WORK! WOO! IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS!

And things are slowing down a bit at work, so I should be able to resume my regularly scheduled weekends off once again in the very near future. Hoo wah. I like my job, but Jesus God I'm tired of it right now.

The sucky thing about working all the time, aside from the obvious I mean, is that you don't really have anything else to talk about. I don't go out, I haven't seen or talked to most of my friends in weeks and weeks so I don't even have any of their stories to share, I have no time for hobbies, no time to read or watch much television or any movies...no time to do anything but sleep, shower and work. Day in, day out, lather rinse repeat. It's old, people, so very old.

And it makes updating my diary difficult, you know? I try not to share too many work stories because it's generally not such a good idea on teh InTArweB, and when I do, I vague `em up a whole bunch. I mean, I could share some stories about what I've been doing lately, but without specifics and details, they wouldn't be terribly interesting. Like for example, I could tell you how my blanks are supposed to blank their blank into the blank blank, and then blank blanked blanks to me to blank that they've blanked the blank, but sometimes the blanks don't blank the blank and instead blank the blanks and turn them in like I'm not going to notice they never blanked the blank and I'm not going to blank their blanks over to the blank who'll blank their blanks to blank where they'll get blanked for blanking with us. See what I mean? How boring is that, right?

Well. To be fair, it would be pretty fucking dull even if you had the details, but you get what I'm trying to say.

At any rate, work will soon be calm again, and I'll have time to get out and do stuff and talk to people, so I'll actually have not only time to post in the diary, but I'll have stuff to actually talk about. So there you go. In the meantime, I highly recommend making a mix of every single one of your favorite songs. It's like the soundtrack to my life or something. Ultimix, how I love you.
